Scoliosis Treatment Costs

Face-to-face scoliosis assessment

An introductory, face-to-face consultation will cover the following: an assessment of the severity and type of the patient’s scoliosis measurement of the angle of trunk rotation with a scoliometer an assessment of posture, leg length, risk of progression of the curve and inherent flexibility of the body an assessment of the curve via X-ray (patients should have a copy of a recent X-ray with them)
discussion about how postural corrections can be achieved advice about helpful physical activities explanation of our scoliosis treatment package and how the LOC Scoliosis Brace works.   Please note that patients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for all appointments.

Free initial virtual consultation

For patients considering LOC’s non-surgical treatment package for scoliosis, we offer a free initial consultation via Skype, Facetime or Zoom. Please note that it is mandatory for children or adolescent patients (under 18) to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during all LOC appointments including Zoom, Facetime, and WhatsApp calls. Wear & Care Guide

Each patient is given a comprehensive wear and care guide which covers the most frequently asked questions we receive about wearing the brace.  

Personal support

Patients and their parents will be offered the direct e-mail addresses of the treating orthotist so they can contact them when they need. Between review appointments, our admin team can set up face-to-face appointments, as well as appointments by phone or video call with your clinician to discuss any concerns or questions you may have.

Regular updates on patient progress

Using patient X-Rays and Cobb angle measurements and feeding these back to patients has been proven to motivate both patients and parents throughout the course of treatment. This can encourage them to persevere and stick to their brace prescription and individual physiotherapy exercise programmes.  

Saturday group sessions

We are currently reviewing our Saturday sessions as part of a new treatment package with our partner Scoliosis SOS.      

BOOK APPOINTMENT

Lead scoliosis clinician at LOC Anna Courtney is now registered with BUPA. BUPA should cover most of the cost of our scoliosis treatment package. Please have your pre-authorisation number ready when you call to book your appointment. If you have private medical insurance with other companies please contact that company directly to enquire about cover for this treatment. We note that you remain fully responsible for the timely payment of your bill in the event that BUPA or any other health insurer does not pay.

Same day scoliosis brace fitting available

We are pleased to be able to offer a same-day assessment and fitting service. Patients coming in for this service must send us a recent x-ray before their appointment. The morning assessment starts between 9:00 and 9:30am and the brace is fitted at 2:30pm on the same day.  If you would like to take advantage of this service please advise us when booking your assessment.
