We are delighted to announce that Professor Saeed Forghany BSc, MSc, PhD in Orthotics & Prosthetics will join the London Orthotic Consultancy to head up the further development and expansion of LOC’s Manchester clinic when John Turner leaves at the end of June.
Professor Forghany has over 24 years’ worth of experience in orthotics and immediately prior to joining LOC was a Band 7.4 senior orthotist at NHS Wrexham Maelor Hospital. His special interests include Gait Analysis, CAD/CAM, footwear & foot orthoses and positional plagiocephaly.
Professor Forghany was recently quoted saying: “I wanted to be a physician for many years but hadn’t considered a career in Orthotics and Prosthetics until secondary school. At that point, I was accepted for an Orthotics and Prosthetics course at the national entrance exam for universities in Iran. Soon after, I found that I loved this course as I am a people person, and I also wanted a dynamic and varied job with real impact to help people to improve their health, wellbeing, and quality of life. I have moved to the UK under the UK Royal Academy of Engineering scheme for "Exceptional Talent" in the field of Orthotics and I am now a HCPC registered prosthetist/orthotist.”
Professor Forghany also knows Salford University (where LOC’s Manchester clinic is based) very well as he is an Honorary Senior Lecturer, Centre for Health, Sport & Rehabilitation Sciences Research at the University. He is joint author of numerous peer reviewed articles in publications such as Journal of Foot and Ankle Research, Gait and Posture, and Journal of Rehabilitation Sciences and Research. He has presented at Prosthetics and Orthotics conferences around the world, at many he was the keynote speaker.
Professor Forghany will be seeing patients while shadowing John with immediate effect. View our LOC Manchester clinic page details to see the conditions we treat and the orthotics we offer.
